Female Mentors Have Big Influence On A Girls Self-Esteem

Dove Real Beauty Workshop
Dove researchers asked girls who has the most powerful influence on their self-esteem and ideas about beauty. The majority of girls around the world say their adult female mentors. And by female mentor, we mean mother, stepmother, grandmother, godmother, sister, aunt, teacher and friend- the person a girl looks up to and is close with. With adult female mentors being such a powerful influence and adolescence often a challenging and stressful time in a teenage girl’s life, The Dove self-esteem fund has developed “Dove The Real Beauty” workshops to bring girls ages 8-12 together with their adult female mentors to start a discussion on important topics such as beauty and body image. It is important for both to leave the workshop feeling confident that each has the tools to continue these discussions which in turn will help them successfully negotiate all types of personal and social situations and occasions. With increased confidence girls can truly experience her full potential. Please join us for a “Dove Real Beauty” workshop on Sunday, January 17, 2010 from 1:00- 3:30p.m. The Deerfield Park District. 836 Jewett Park Drive, Pine B room.
